This itinerary starts with Dakar and Lac Rose, continues to Fathala Wildlife Reserve, then crosses into The Gambia for Banjul, Kunta Kinteh Island, Abuko, Kachikally, Tanji, Janjanbureh, the River Gambia and Wassu Stone Circles.

Day 1

Dakar arrival and city orientation

Meet your guide at Blaise Diagne International Airport, transfer to the coast and begin with Dakar orientation: Sandaga Market area, African Renaissance Monument and Independence Square when timing allows.

DSS airport to Dakar: about 45 km.
Day 2

Lac Rose and Dakar craft stops

Visit Lac Rose, learn about salt harvesting and return toward Dakar for craft markets, city viewpoints or a relaxed afternoon by the ocean.

Dakar to Lac Rose and back: about 70 km total.
Day 3

Fathala Wildlife Reserve safari

Travel south-east through Senegal countryside for a safari day at Fathala, with 4x4 wildlife viewing and an overnight lodge atmosphere near the border route.

Cross into The Gambia and explore Banjul

Assisted Senegal-Gambia border crossing, then continue toward Banjul for Arch 22, the National Museum area, Albert Market and a first taste of Gambian coastal life.

Kunta Kinteh Island, Albreda, Juffureh and river time

A full heritage day around Kunta Kinteh Island, local villages and the River Gambia, with historical context and optional boat time depending on conditions.

Day 6

Abuko, Kachikally and Tanji fishing culture

Nature and culture day with Abuko Nature Reserve, Kachikally Crocodile Pool and Tanji Fish Market, one of the most vivid coastal scenes in The Gambia.

Janjanbureh and River Gambia boat safari

Drive inland toward Janjanbureh for a river-focused day with boat safari, wildlife watching, village life and an overnight stay in a riverside lodge atmosphere.

Wassu Stone Circles and return to the Atlantic coast

Visit the Wassu Stone Circles and return toward the Atlantic coast with scenic stops, photography breaks and a softer beachside evening.

Return to Senegal and Dakar farewell evening
